The last one that I loved
by Liana Hanokaee
The one I put up all above
When I try to think of another Adam
Gd knows it’s hard for me to fathom
I can’t seem to get one thought out fully
You can say my lines are bullies
My tears act in the same way
They chase each other down as if one another are prey
I’ve been told to treat time as my best friend
But do you remember just how far you’d bend?
To talk to me when you really had to sleep
See, instead of counting them, you realized you weren’t a sheep
Maybe you are someone's nice and proper son,
Never like the blind with all senses but one
You held me to high standards like you do to all around
Then one day you left not making a sound
My house felt so empty, nobody had won
I’d hope you’d realize no arguments are worse than one
The bullies of tears fill my glass some days
I hate that I pray you’re doing better than okay
i loved this poem so much. the rhyme scheme flowed and was easy to read. the only critique would be to add one line in the first stanza to rhyme with "above". My favorite stanza was the second one, i think the way you depicted tears chasing each other is so cool.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. I especially love the line : My house felt so empty, nobody had won. It reminds me of the saying/rhetorical questions: would you rather be happy or right? I actually think that would be a nice addition to the poem!
